KEI Industries has begun the first phase of commercial production at its new Sanand-II facility in Ahmedabad, effective 10 December 2025.
The plant forms part of the company’s Rs 2,000-crore Sanand project and is designed to manufacture low-tension (LT) and high-tension (HT) cables to cater to rising demand from utilities, industrial developments, and infrastructure projects. Trial production has already commenced, and the first phase will enhance the plant’s cable manufacturing capacity by 60,732 km. The Sanand unit will also produce extra-high voltage (EHV) cables and house wires.
The current installed capacities at the facility stand at 2.26 lakh km for cables, 23.89 lakh km for house wires, and 9,000 MT for stainless steel wires, with utilisation levels of 72.44%, 67.08%, and 82.84%, respectively.
