Stalin's Vision for Thanjavur: New Bridge, Warehouses, and Industrial Growth

On June 16, 2025, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin unveiled a comprehensive infrastructure development package for Thanjavur district. A major highlight is the construction of a new bridge at the Vettaru-Vadavaru River Head (VVR Head) in Thenperambur village, with an allocated budget of ₹42 crore.

Other key initiatives include the ₹40 crore widening of the Grand Anaicut canal road between Eachangkottai and Vettikkadu, aimed at improving connectivity. Additionally, the Uyyakondan extension canal, which supports irrigation for several villages in Budalur taluk, will undergo renovation at a cost of ₹15 crore.

To bolster agricultural infrastructure, a large paddy warehouse will be established in Naduvur with an investment of ₹170 crore. Supporting industrial development, new SIPCOT industrial estates will be developed in Palayappati and Rajamadam.

For the benefit of the fishing community, a new jetty is planned at Eripurakkarai and Keezhathottam, with a budget of ₹32 crore.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister inaugurated completed buildings worth ₹326 crore and laid foundation stones for new projects valued at ₹309 crore. He also launched welfare schemes covering 2.25 lakh beneficiaries, with a total outlay of ₹558 crore.
