Telangana to Develop 80-Acre Kitakyushu-Inspired Eco-Town

The Telangana government has unveiled plans to develop an 80-acre eco-town inspired by Kitakyushu, Japan, focusing on sustainability and future-ready infrastructure. The announcement was made by State IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu at the “From Kitakyushu to Telangana: Catalysing Sustainable Industrial Growth” conference in Hyderabad.

This initiative follows a strategic cooperation agreement between Telangana and Kitakyushu, aimed at integrating clean technologies, digital innovation, and circular economy practices into urban development. “This partnership aligns with our vision for sustainable and inclusive industrial growth,” Sridhar Babu said, noting that the state has attracted investments worth ₹3 lakh crore over the past 18 months and is actively fostering Japanese collaboration.

The eco-town will target Net Zero emissions and include projects such as riverfront development and sustainable industrial zones.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy welcomed the initiative, expressing confidence that it will drive inclusive economic growth, urban innovation, and a zero-emission ecosystem in the state.
