MECON has announced a third extension of the deadline for submission of tenders to 29 May 2025 for the selection of an EPC contractor for the SAIL-IISCO Steel Plant (SAIL-ISP) project in Burnpur, West Bengal. The original submission deadline was 21 April 2025.
The scope of the EPC contract includes the construction of modern residential buildings, a centralised administrative and HRD complex, and a project office, as part of the infrastructural upgrade.
This initiative is aligned with the Steel Authority of India’s (SAIL) Vision 2030 program, which targets an expansion of its total production capacity to 35.24 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). Specifically, SAIL-ISP aims to enhance its capacity to 7.08 MTPA by 2030.
To support this growth, the project envisions the development of new residential units for employees and the relocation of several administrative offices—including the Project Office, F&A, MM, BE, C&IT, and HRD Centre—to a suitable location outside the existing plant premises.
MECON has been appointed as the Project Management Consultant (PMC) by SAIL-IISCO to oversee the implementation of the project.
