Jindal Stainless, India’s largest stainless steel producer, is set to double its slag processing capacity with the establishment of a new wet milling plant at its Jajpur facility in Odisha.
The project supports the company’s growing operations and reinforces its long-term commitment to circular production and resource efficiency by enabling the recovery of valuable metals from industrial slag. The initiative is expected to generate approximately 140 local jobs.
Developed in partnership with Harsco Environmental, a global leader in environmental solutions for the metals industry, the project involves an investment of USD 150 million over 15 years. The plant is projected to recover metal value equivalent to the total investment during the term of the agreement.
This initiative aligns with Jindal Stainless’ environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy and its Net Zero target for 2050. In FY25, the company reduced its carbon footprint by approximately 14%, driven by key sustainability milestones such as commissioning India’s first green hydrogen plant for stainless steel production and developing Odisha’s largest captive solar power facility.
