Green Light, Green Steel: Maharashtra Lands ₹40K Cr Investment.

The Maharashtra government has approved investment proposals worth ₹40,917 crore across 13 major projects, following a Cabinet Sub-committee meeting on industries chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The investments span key sectors such as renewable energy, advanced materials, and green steel, reinforcing the state’s industrial growth and sustainability goals.

Key proposals include:

Avaada Electro: ₹13,647 crore solar power plant in Nagpur, NPSPL Advanced Materials: ₹5,440 crore coke oven facility

LNK Green Energy: ₹4,700 crore investment in a 6 GW solar cell and module manufacturing unit, Vow Iron and Steel: ₹4,300 crore integrated steel plant in Chandrapur

Additional investments from Viraj Profiles, Polyplex Corporation, and Clean Fino-Chem in Nandurbar and Pune

Fadnavis reaffirmed Maharashtra’s leadership in solar panel manufacturing and revealed that a new policy promoting “green steel” — steel produced with near-zero carbon emissions — is being drafted. A dedicated committee will be constituted to explore incentives for such projects under the Thrust Sector Policy framework.
