Artson & Malabar: A Rs 500 Crore Wave in Boat Building

Artson Engineering, a subsidiary of Tata Projects, will invest Rs 500 crore over the next few years in a joint venture (JV) with Malabar Cements to establish a boat-building facility.

The facility, which will focus on boats with a capacity of under 100 tonnes, will be situated on Willingdon Island, on land leased by Malabar Cements from the Kochi Port Authority for clinker imports. A formal Expression of Interest (EOI) was signed with the Kerala government on 22 February 2025 during the Kerala Global Investment Summit.

The initial investment of Rs 100 crore will be followed by planned expansions.

Based in Hyderabad, Artson Engineering became part of Tata Projects after Tata acquired a 75 percent stake in the company.
