Calstar Sponge Limited (CSL), a leading steel manufacturer in India, is proposing to expand its existing steel plant at Bamunara Village, Burdwan, West Bengal. The project aims to increase the production capacity of steel billets from 1,00,000 TPA (tonnes per annum) to 1,98,000 TPA.
The expansion project will include the installation of four new 15 T induction furnaces along with matching LRF (Ladle Refining Furnace) and CCM (Continuous Casting Machine) to manufacture billets. A rolling mill with a capacity of 1,00,000 TPA will also be installed to produce TMT (Thermo Mechanically Treated) bars.

The project is now in the stage of construction being started. The project work has been accomplished at a rate of 60%. The work on the project will be finished by December of 2024.
