ebm-papst Group Commits ₹340 Crore for Third India Plant Near Chennai

Germany-based ebm-papst Group, a global leader in fans, blowers, and motors, has committed an investment of Rs 340 crore to establish a new manufacturing plant near Chennai. This marks the company’s third production facility in India and is expected to significantly increase its current output, potentially expanding production capacity by at least four times.

The new facility will be built on a 14-acre site in Sunguvarchatram, located about 50 km west of Chennai. Expected to be operational by next year, the plant will create around 700 job opportunities upon full commissioning, with 500 roles in the initial phase.

This expansion is in line with ebm-papst’s "local for local" strategy, which will enhance its capacity to serve both domestic and international markets from India. Currently, ebm-papst India operates two factories in Chennai and recently opened a global capability centre employing 130 professionals.

The company sees promising growth opportunities in sectors like data centres, renewable energy, and the modernization of commercial buildings. With its EC motors offering energy savings of 30–50 percent compared to traditional AC systems, the company’s products align with India’s sustainability objectives.
