Epiroc Rocks Hyderabad with New Drill Tool Plant

Epiroc AB, a leading global partner for productivity and sustainability in the mining and construction industries, has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility for rock drilling tools in Hyderabad. This strategic expansion strengthens Epiroc’s ability to serve both the Indian mining sector and international markets with high-quality drilling solutions.

Located adjacent to Epiroc’s existing plant in Hyderabad, the new facility will produce a variety of advanced rock drilling tools, including rock reinforcement products essential for mine safety, as well as rotary and down-the-hole (DTH) tools aimed at boosting efficiency and productivity in mining operations. Production is scheduled to begin next month.

The launch supports Epiroc’s broader mission to advance sustainable mining practices and deepen its regional presence. The facility is expected to create approximately 35 new jobs, contributing to local employment. Currently, Epiroc employs around 1,600 people in India, many of whom are engaged in research and development.

Arunkumar Govindarajan, President of Epiroc India, emphasized the company’s long-term commitment to the country’s industrial growth:
“By investing in local manufacturing and increasing our capacity, we support our customers’ growth while contributing to sustainable productivity and innovation in the mining sector.”

This new facility follows a significant expansion in 2017, when Epiroc doubled its plant capacity in response to growing demand. In September 2024, the company also broke ground on the new site and inaugurated a new innovation and technology centre in Hyderabad—further reinforcing its dedication to localized innovation and production.
