Finishing the Puzzle: YEIDA Accelerates Land Acquisition

To expedite urban and industrial growth in the Yamuna Expressway region, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has initiated a focused land acquisition plan targeting scattered leftover plots across 18 sectors.

While 80% of the land has already been acquired in sectors such as 5, 8, 10, 13, 17, 20, 22, 28, 32, and 33, the remaining 20%—comprised of small, fragmented parcels—has delayed the development of essential infrastructure including roads, sewage treatment plants (STPs), drainage networks, and public amenities.

To resolve this, YEIDA will directly negotiate with farmers to acquire land in 10-acre clusters. “An action plan has been prepared to acquire 100% of the land in all YEIDA sectors. This will accelerate industrial activity and urban settlement, which is our immediate priority,” said RK Singh, CEO of YEIDA.

The urgency comes as the Noida International Airport nears completion. Incomplete land acquisition has held up residential allotments since 2009 and industrial ones since 2013. Critical infrastructure for key projects—such as the medical device park in Sector 28 and the apparel park in Sector 29—also remains on hold due to pending land access.
