"First of its Kind" Smelter by Pondy Oxides Starts Operations in Tamil Nadu

Pondy Oxides and Chemicals has officially commenced commercial production at the first phase of its new smelter unit in Thervoykandigai, Tamil Nadu. Described as “the first of its kind in India,” the cutting-edge facility began operations on April 16, 2025.

This launch marks a significant milestone in the company's ongoing expansion strategy. The newly inaugurated unit boasts an annual capacity of 36,000 metric tonnes, forming part of a larger plan to reach a total capacity of 72,000 MTPA at the fully automated, state-of-the-art facility.

Renowned for its leadership in the recycling industry, Pondy Oxides and Chemicals emphasized the plant's advanced technology and sustainable operational practices. The facility is specifically designed to efficiently process various types of metal waste while minimizing environmental impact, setting a new benchmark in India’s metal recycling sector.
