Godrej's ₹350 Crore Bet on the Future of Indian Warehousing

Godrej Enterprises Group has announced an investment of ₹350 crore to strengthen its presence in India’s expanding warehousing, logistics, and quick-commerce ecosystem. The company aims to significantly scale its material handling business over the next two years, leveraging rising demand for automation and intralogistics solutions.

The material handling division, currently valued at around ₹1,000 crore, is targeted to grow to ₹1,500–₹2,000 crore, driven by increasing adoption of forklifts, warehouse automation systems, and advanced logistics equipment across e-commerce and quick-commerce platforms such as Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, Flipkart, and Amazon.

As part of its expansion, Godrej has set up a new manufacturing facility in Khalapur near Mumbai with an initial annual production capacity of 15,000 units, a sharp increase from its earlier Vikhroli plant. The company also plans to further scale capacity to 30,000 units in the coming phase.

The expansion reflects the growing importance of efficient warehousing infrastructure in enabling rapid order fulfilment in the quick-commerce sector. Godrej’s investment underscores its confidence in the long-term growth of India’s logistics and supply chain automation market, where demand for advanced material handling solutions continues to accelerate.
