Grasim Bolsters Birla Opus with New Mahad Resin Plant

Aditya Birla Group’s flagship company Grasim Industries began commercial production of a new resin manufacturing block at its Birla Opus Paints facility in Mahad, Maharashtra, on 24 June 2025. The unit adds an installed capacity of 22 million litres per annum (MLPA), enhancing Grasim’s ability to produce high-quality resins—essential binders that provide adhesion, durability, and film formation in paints.

This development complements the plant’s March 2025 commissioning of key paint lines, including 180 MLPA for water-based paints, 20 MLPA for distemper, and 30 MLPA for solvent-based coatings, further diversifying Grasim’s growing decorative paints portfolio under the Birla Opus brand.

The commissioning marks another step in Grasim’s accelerated growth in the paints sector. In Q4 FY25, the company posted revenues of ₹8,926 crore, reflecting strong demand across both its core businesses and new verticals.
