The Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC) project has marked a significant milestone with the signing of the State Support Agreement (SSA) and Shareholder Agreement (SHA) between the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT), the Government of Haryana, and the Haryana Airports Development Corporation (HADC).
As part of this collaboration, the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) will support the development of the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) at Hisar—one of 20 industrial corridor projects currently under implementation across India.
Located near Maharaja Agrasen International Airport, the Hisar IMC spans 2,988 acres and carries an investment potential of ₹32,417 crore, with an estimated project cost of ₹4,680 crore. The cluster is expected to generate around 1.25 lakh employment opportunities, significantly boosting regional industrial growth.
Strategically situated between the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors, the IMC offers strong multi-modal connectivity through NH-52, NH-09, railway lines, and logistics hubs—enhancing its attractiveness for domestic and global investors.
Officials noted that the agreements reaffirm the Government of India’s commitment to accelerating industrial development, generating large-scale employment, and fostering a business-friendly environment in line with the ‘Make in India’ vision.
