JK Lakshmi Cement Limited is embarking on a significant venture, planning to establish a state-of-the-art cement grinding unit in Surat, Gujarat, investing Rs 225 crore. Envisioned to operate at a capacity of 1 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), this project aims to harness clinker from JKLC's Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh plants and process it into finished cement for Gujarat's thriving market.
Anticipated to generate job opportunities for approximately 250 individuals, this initiative responds to Gujarat's escalating cement demand, enhancing JKLC's market presence in one of India's major cement-consuming states. Moreover, this strategic move will optimize logistics, slashing transportation costs, and fortifying JKLC's operational efficiency.
Currently in the developmental phase, the project is undergoing meticulous planning, including land acquisition and securing essential governmental approvals. JKLC is gearing up to commence construction within the coming months, targeting project completion within an 18-month timeframe.
This groundbreaking venture marks JKLC's inaugural grinding unit in Gujarat, supplementing its existing three cement plants across India, collectively boasting a capacity of 7 MTPA. As a subsidiary of the prestigious JK Organisation, JK Lakshmi Cement Limited reinforces its commitment to innovation and expansion in the Indian cement industry.
As on December 2023, The project is currently in the stage of being approved currently awaiting approval from the government.
