Lighting Up EVs: Uno Minda's ₹210 Cr. Die Casting Plant in Maharashtra

Uno Minda has announced the establishment of a greenfield aluminium die casting facility in Sambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra, following Board approval. This strategic investment aims to meet rising demand for lightweight, high-performance components in the fast-growing electric vehicle (EV) segment—particularly for electric two-wheelers (e-2Ws) and four-wheelers (e-4Ws).

The project involves a phased capital investment of approximately ₹210 crore over five years, funded through a mix of internal accruals and debt. Phase 1 operations are slated to commence by Q2 of FY27.

Designed to support the increasing aluminium content in EV platforms, the facility will boost Uno Minda’s die casting capabilities for both structural and thermal management components—critical for EV powertrains and body applications. It also forms a key part of the company’s backward integration strategy, supplying components to its upcoming 4W-EV powertrain plant.

Strategically located for optimal logistics, the new plant will serve key OEM customers across the region, reinforcing Uno Minda’s commitment to innovation, efficiency, and sustainability in India’s evolving EV ecosystem.
