Ludhiana’s Steel Revolution: The AISRM Multimetal Project

Sanjeev Arora, Punjab’s Cabinet Minister for Industries & Commerce, Investment Promotion, and Power, announced that AISRM Multimetal, a part of the Arora Iron Group, will set up a steel manufacturing facility on the Doraha–Khanna Road in Ludhiana district.

The plant, to be located at Village Jaspallon, will be spread across 46 acres and is expected to generate employment for over 920 people. The first phase of the project is scheduled to become operational by September 2027. Once commissioned, the facility will have an installed capacity of 5.40 lakh tonnes per annum (TPA) and will produce round bars, wire rods, coils, and flats using scrap and ferro alloys as raw materials.

The plant will operate on a triple-shift basis for 350 days a year and will deploy advanced technologies, including induction furnaces, electric arc furnaces (EAF), ladle refining furnaces (LRF), vacuum degassing, argon oxygen decarburisation (AOD), continuous casting machines, and rolling mills. These technologies will enable the production of high-quality alloy and special steel products for industrial applications.

The project is expected to strengthen Punjab’s alloy and special steel sector, particularly supporting the automobile and auto components industries, where demand for high-grade steel is rising. It will also reinforce Ludhiana’s position as a key industrial and metallurgical hub in North India.
