Powering Packaging with PET: A ₹450 Crore Vision by Chemco & Kandoi

Chemco Group and Kandoi Group of Industries have entered into a strategic joint venture to establish two state-of-the-art greenfield manufacturing facilities in Gujarat, with a combined investment of ₹450 crore. Located in Vapi and Dahej, the new units will offer an integrated solution for recycling and converting PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) bottles into high-performance industrial packaging.

This initiative marks a significant step forward in India’s transition to sustainable packaging. The facilities will feature a closed-loop production system encompassing PET bottle collection, washing, tape extrusion, weaving, and final bag fabrication. This end-to-end approach ensures product traceability, consistent quality, and a reduced environmental footprint.

A standout feature of the project is its scale and environmental commitment. Once operational, the plants will recycle over 10 million PET bottles daily—amounting to approximately 3.6 billion bottles annually. The entire operation will be powered by renewable energy, making the facilities low-carbon alternatives to traditional polypropylene and polyethylene packaging solutions.

Leveraging Chemco Group’s expertise in plastic packaging, the venture aims to turn everyday PET waste into valuable industrial packaging solutions. “By transforming everyday PET waste into high-performance industrial packaging, we want to create value not just for businesses, but for communities and the environment,” said Ram Saraogi, Chairman of Chemco Group.
