VISL's ₹10,000 Crore Revival: A New Era for Bhadravati

The Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Plant (VISL) in Bhadravati, a unit of the Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), is poised for a major revival with an estimated investment of ₹8,000 to ₹10,000 crore. Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy, announced the initiative, reaffirming the government's commitment to restoring the legacy of this historic plant.

Located about 260 km northwest of Bengaluru, VISL has long been a key industrial landmark in Karnataka. The Union Steel Ministry's revival plan aims to enhance the plant’s operations and production capacity.

Minister Kumaraswamy stated that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) is currently being prepared and is expected to be completed within the next two months. Once finalized, the project will proceed swiftly through approval processes and initial groundwork, setting the stage for the plant’s transformation.
