Vizianagaram Gets ₹4,000 Cr Boost as AP Approves JSW Park

The Andhra Pradesh state government has approved the development of a mega industrial park by JSW Industrial Park (formerly Jindal South West Aluminium Limited) in S Kota, Vizianagaram district.

The company will establish the park on 1,166 acres of land it had acquired several years ago, originally intended for a 1.5 million tonne alumina refinery with a proposed investment of ₹4,000 crore. That project was stalled due to issues in securing bauxite mining clearances. Now, under Government Order (GO) No. 184, the industrial park has received the necessary approvals to move forward.

The state government will provide key infrastructure support, including water and power supply. Initially, water will be sourced from Mehadrigedda, and later from the Thatipudi reservoir, at a subsidised rate of ₹25 per kilolitre for 25 years. Additionally, two substations will be established to ensure 25 MW power supply, and the company will benefit from a 100% concession on land-use conversion charges.

While the project marks a significant industrial investment for the region, some farmers continue to demand the return of their lands, raising concerns that remain under consideration.
