Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting recently completed its acquisition of the personal care brands Jo, Doy, and Bacter Shield from VVF (India), a reputable contract manufacturer. This strategic move represents Wipro's third acquisition within the past 12 months and is poised to play a key role in the company's broader expansion plans within the personal wash segment.
During the fiscal year 2023, these three brands collectively generated a substantial revenue exceeding Rs 210 crore for VVF. Originally established as The Vegetable Vitamin Foods Company in Mumbai by Godrej Pallonji Joshi, VVF boasts an impressive annual production capacity of 3,00,000 tonnes across its manufacturing facilities spanning four continents.
Jo toilet soap, a prominent product among the acquired brands, is presently available in the Northern, Eastern, and Western states of the country. Doy, positioned in the premium brands category alongside well-known names like Pears and Dove, adds further depth to Wipro's product portfolio. Meanwhile, Bacter Shield offers an antibacterial range of soap and handwash, contributing to the diverse offerings now under Wipro's umbrella.
Wipro, already recognized for its flagship brands Chandrika and Santoor, has consistently demonstrated its commitment to growth through strategic acquisitions. Having invested more than USD one billion in funding 15 fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) acquisitions since 2003, Wipro continues to strengthen its position in the market and broaden its influence in the personal care segment.
