Centre Sanctions ₹991 Cr to 6-Lane Key NH-41 Port Highway in Gujarat

The Central Government has sanctioned Rs 991.19 crore for the six-laning of a critical 57.80 km stretch on National Highway 41 (NH-41) between Gandhidham (Kandla) and Mundra in Gujarat.

Announced by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on October 15, 2026, the upgrade is designed to streamline freight movement between two of India’s premier maritime hubs: Deendayal Port (Kandla) and Mundra Port. With daily traffic exceeding 55,000 passenger car units (PCU)—heavily driven by commercial freight trucks—the project incorporates a new flyover, underpasses, major and minor bridges, and targeted safety upgrades to eliminate accident black spots.

As a vital artery connecting Gujarat’s coastline to markets across North India, the expanded highway will significantly bolster industrial supply chains, boost logistics efficiency, and accelerate agricultural trade.
