Gujarat to Invest ₹4,179 Crore in Urban Transformation

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved ₹4,179 crore for urban development projects under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana, as part of the state’s Urban Development Year – 2025 initiative.

The allocation will benefit seven municipal corporations — Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Gandhinagar, Nadiad, Porbandar, and Morbi — along with 12 municipalities, including Visnagar, Borsad, Viramgam, Patan, Amod, Una, Halvad, Khambhaliya, Savarkundla, Dhanera, and Veraval-Patan.

Key Highlights:

₹3,768 crore allocated for core infrastructure works, including:, ₹2,940 crore for 252 projects in Ahmedabad, ₹455 crore for 349 projects in Vadodara, ₹367 crore for 302 works in Rajkot, ₹219 crore earmarked for the Iconic Road initiative, supporting urban road development and Gaurav Path projects., ₹93 crore allocated for water supply and stormwater drainage projects., ₹14 crore set aside for unique municipal development projects in Veraval-Patan and Amod.

Under the Khaangi Society Janbhagidari Yojana, ₹2.72 crore will support citizen-participation projects in Visnagar, Borsad, and Viramgam.

CM Bhupendra Patel emphasized that these investments mark 20 years of urban transformation since the launch of this mission by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2005, aiming to ensure citizen-centric, inclusive, and sustainable urban growth across Gujarat.
