₹18,600 Crores, 105 Projects: PM Modi's Mega Push for a Developed Odisha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 105 development projects worth over ₹18,600 crore in Bhubaneswar on 20 June 2025, spanning key sectors such as drinking water, irrigation, healthcare, rural and urban infrastructure, and transport.

Key highlights included the flagging off of the first passenger train to Boudh district, inauguration of the Sonepur–Purunakatak railway line, and launch of additional rail infrastructure like the Sarla–Sason third and fourth lines and Jharsuguda–Jamga fourth line. In urban mobility, 100 electric buses were introduced under the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) initiative to boost eco-friendly transport.

The PM also unveiled the ‘Odisha Vision Document’, targeting the transformation of Odisha into a $500 billion economy by 2036 and $1.5 trillion by 2047, coinciding with the state’s centenary as a linguistic state and India’s 100th year of independence.

Additionally, Modi launched the ‘Baraputra Aitihya Gram Yojana’, aimed at converting the birthplaces of iconic Odia personalities into cultural heritage hubs with museums, statues, and libraries, promoting cultural tourism and preserving Odisha’s rich heritage.
