In a significant boost to water infrastructure in Samba, Jammu & Kashmir’s Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Ahmed Rana, laid the foundation stone on 28 July 2025 for a Rs 594 crore Water Supply Scheme (WSS) under AMRUT 2.0. The project will augment water supply across all 17 wards of Samba Town, benefiting over 30,000 residents and delivering 530 new Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs).
In addition, the Minister inaugurated six rural Water Supply Schemes—Devaka, Daboh, Gangeri Jamoda, Sandhi-II, Sangwal-II, and Dabri—with a total cost of Rs 17.75 crore. Of these, five are being implemented under the Jal Jeevan Mission, and one under the UT CAPEX Budget. Collectively, they will provide 673 FHTCs, significantly enhancing water access and security in surrounding villages.
These projects include components such as Ground Service Reservoirs (GSRs), sump tanks, pipelines, filtration plants, and an electric substation—demonstrating the government's commitment to building climate-resilient, decentralized infrastructure for both urban and rural communities.
