Healthcare Titan Rises: IHH Sets Sights on 7,000 Beds in India

IHH Healthcare is set to expand its capacity in India to nearly 7,000 beds by 2028, following the successful closure of its open offer to acquire additional stakes in Fortis Healthcare and Malar Hospitals. Post-acquisition, IHH now holds 31.17 percent in Fortis Healthcare and 62.73 percent in Malar Hospitals.

The company plans to strengthen patient care, drive innovation, and improve operational efficiency by leveraging synergies between Fortis Healthcare and Gleneagles Healthcare India. Commenting on the development, IHH Healthcare CEO Prem Kumar Nair said the completion of the Fortis open offer marks the beginning of the group’s next phase of growth in India.

Currently, IHH operates 35 hospitals across 11 states with a capacity of over 5,000 beds and intends to add around 2,000 beds by 2028. The expansion underscores IHH Healthcare’s commitment to deepening its presence and addressing the growing demand for quality healthcare services in India.
