St. Xavier's University, Kolkata (SXUK) is planning to establish a School of Nursing and, subsequently, a medical college. According to Vice Chancellor Father Felix Raj, the School of Nursing will be introduced first, with the university currently seeking government-allotted land for the project. He highlighted the need for strong healthcare infrastructure and potential hospital partnerships to support both the nursing school and future medical college.
Since 2017, the university has invested approximately Rs 550 crore in infrastructure development, including a new academic building and a 2,000-seat auditorium. A second academic building—featuring modern classrooms, laboratories, and a moot court—is nearing completion. The university is also exploring the construction of two swimming pools to promote sports participation.
Beginning in 2026, SXUK will launch B.Tech programmes, followed by M.Tech courses, and will expand its academic portfolio to include offerings such as an integrated MBA, B.Ed, and various programmes under its School of Design.
