The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated planning for a 20-kilometre elevated corridor to ease congestion along the busy Delhi-Gurugram stretch of National Highway-48 (NH-48) and surrounding arterial roads.
The proposed corridor will run parallel to NH-48, connecting AIIMS/INA in Delhi to the Mahipalpur Bypass and further to the Gurugram-Faridabad Road. NHAI has invited bids for the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR), which is expected to be completed by October 15. The estimated cost of the project is approximately ₹5,000 crore, subject to revisions post-DPR finalisation.
The signal-free corridor is planned to traverse key areas including Brig Hoshiyar Singh Marg, Africa Avenue, Nelson Mandela Marg, Vasant Vihar, and Arjangarh, before terminating at the Gurugram-Faridabad Road. Off-ramps are proposed at strategic locations such as IFFCO Chowk, IGI Airport, and Mahipalpur to facilitate smoother traffic movement towards Ghaziabad, Noida, and Greater Noida.
Once completed, the corridor is expected to significantly decongest MG Road, the Ring Roads, and NH-48, improving overall traffic flow across the National Capital Region (NCR).
