The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has approved a geotechnical survey for the proposed construction of a Rs 52-crore flyover at Ambedkar Chowk, a major intersection connecting Sectors 45/46 and 51/52 in Gurugram.
This project is a key component of a broader traffic decongestion strategy and has already received clearance from the Haryana state government. Scheduled to take place from May 25 to June 15, the survey will be carried out by a private consultant and will form the basis for the detailed project report (DPR) to be submitted to GMDA.
Ambedkar Chowk, situated on Vikas Marg, is a critical traffic junction currently plagued by severe congestion, particularly during peak hours, with wait times often exceeding 10 minutes. The nearby Artemis Hospital has reported delays in emergency services due to these regular traffic jams.
The planned 700-meter-long flyover is expected to be completed within two years of awarding the construction contract. It is part of a comprehensive infrastructure development initiative that also includes an elevated road along Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), a flyover at Dadi Sati Chowk, and five underpasses aligned with the upcoming Gurugram Metro project.
