The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a significant infrastructure initiative, allocating ₹6,124 crore for the development of ring roads, bypasses, and flyovers across the state in the financial year 2025–26.
The Public Works Department (PWD) has identified 62 priority projects, focusing on densely populated and high-traffic areas. The goal is to enhance urban and semi-urban connectivity, ease traffic congestion, and support the state’s growing industrial and logistical needs.
As part of the plan, bypasses and ring roads will be constructed in municipalities with populations over one lakh, particularly in areas not currently connected to national highways. In cities where national highways are present, such infrastructure will be undertaken by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
This targeted expansion is expected to streamline transportation, boost economic activity, and provide critical support for the state’s ongoing industrial park development.
