The Paradip Port Authority (PPA) has set a new operational benchmark by handling 50 million tonnes (MT) of cargo in just four months of FY 2024–25—achieving the milestone four days ahead of last year.
This marks the fastest 50 MT throughput in the port’s history, showcasing its enhanced efficiency, robust infrastructure, and growing operational capabilities. Strong performance across cargo categories contributed to the achievement: coal cargo touched 22.06 MT, up 0.53% year-on-year; container traffic surged by 27.80%, indicating continued diversification.
Crude oil cargo volumes reached 11.36 MT, reflecting 14.97% growth, while raw materials for fertilisers posted an 8.41% increase over the same period last year. Backed by ongoing infrastructure upgrades and process optimisations, PPA remains confident in surpassing its cargo handling targets for FY 2025–26.
