Andhra's ₹1,500 Cr Tech Anchor: A New Era for Digital India

On 12 October 2025, Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh laid the foundation stone for the state’s first 50-MW AI-powered Edge Data Centre and Open Cable Landing Station at Rushikonda, Visakhapatnam.

The ₹1,500-crore project, led by Sify Infinit Spaces (a subsidiary of Nasdaq-listed Sify Technologies), will be developed in two phases across 3.6 acres. Designed to strengthen India’s digital infrastructure, the facility will support low-latency AI processing and serve as a strategic submarine cable landing point, connecting India to Southeast Asian nations such as Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Australia.

This landmark development is expected to spur innovation, attract investments, and generate employment, positioning Visakhapatnam as a key digital gateway on India’s eastern coast. Sify Chairman Raju Vegesna emphasized the company’s commitment to accelerating India’s digital economy and AI-driven transformation.

The project represents a major step toward technological self-reliance and reinforces Andhra Pradesh’s role in advancing the country’s digital growth trajectory.
