The Andhra Pradesh government is planning to acquire an additional 30,000 to 40,000 acres of land to support major infrastructure expansion around Amaravati, including the development of a new international airport. This follows the earlier acquisition of 34,241 acres from 29,881 farmers across 29 villages in Guntur district during Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s tenure from 2014 to 2019.
According to sources, the government aims to broaden the capital region’s development plan to include key infrastructure such as an international airport, outer and inner ring roads, and highways connecting Amaravati to major cities like Hyderabad, Machilipatnam, and Visakhapatnam.
The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) is currently identifying suitable land in Guntur and Krishna districts. The expanded plan features a comprehensive road and expressway network designed to integrate the 16.9 sq. km seed capital with both regional and inter-state transport corridors, ensuring improved connectivity across the capital region.
