Aruvikkara Plant Upgrade Set to Boost Water Supply by 10 MLD

The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) is set to begin augmentation work on the 74 MLD water-treatment plant at Aruvikkara within the next three months, following the finalization of tenders and work agreements.

The project will boost treatment capacity by 10 MLD, specifically addressing drinking-water shortages in elevated urban areas during peak summer. Engineers are currently drafting a detailed outline plan and inspecting specialized equipment to ensure vulnerable zones receive a reliable supply. Anticipating lower-than-average rainfall, the KWA is proactively strengthening the water distribution network ahead of the summer season.
