Basavashree's Sustainable Solution for Bio-Medical Waste in Karnataka

Hubballi is on the brink of a significant leap in sustainable healthcare waste management with the upcoming Common Bio-Medical Waste Treatment Facility at Plot No. 6 and Sy.No. 87/2B, 1st Phase, Tarihal Industrial Area. With a budget of ₹1 Crore and a daily treatment capacity of 885kg, this project is set to address the pressing need for responsible disposal of bio-medical waste generated by healthcare facilities in Hubballi and its surroundings.

This centralized treatment facility will play a pivotal role in collecting, treating, and disposing of bio-medical waste from hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and other healthcare establishments. By adhering to stringent environmental and safety regulations, the project ensures the proper handling of bio-medical waste, minimizing potential health and environmental risks. The facility's commitment to compliance with the Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016, reinforces its dedication to responsible and sustainable waste management practices.

Beyond providing a centralized solution, the project promises improved efficiency through economies of scale, offering a more resource-efficient alternative compared to individual waste management practices adopted by healthcare facilities. To offer a more comprehensive understanding, additional details such as the specific types of bio-medical waste treated, the treatment technologies employed, and the anticipated benefits for the community would further underscore the project's significance and its positive impact on public health, environmental protection, and local job creation.
