Bengaluru’s wastewater management system is set for a major upgrade with Swiss start-ups expressing interest in piloting advanced treatment technologies at the city’s sewage treatment plants (STPs). The initiative aligns with the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board’s (BWSSB) push to adopt innovative and sustainable solutions for water and wastewater management.
Several Swiss start-ups are keen to test their technologies within BWSSB’s infrastructure through pilot projects, allowing proof-of-concept models to be deployed and evaluated under real-world conditions. The development follows a recent videoconference between BWSSB Chairman V. Ram Prasath Manohar and Angela Honegger, CEO of Swissnex India, to explore avenues for collaboration.
Highlighting the potential of the partnership, Chairman Manohar said the board welcomes Swiss universities and start-ups to invest in and contribute technological solutions at Bengaluru’s sewage treatment plants.
