Delhi Boosts Healthcare with PM ABHIM & Ayushman Cards

On April 10, 2025, the Delhi government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM ABHIM) in the national capital, marking a major step forward in enhancing healthcare infrastructure and services.

Under this initiative, funds will be allocated for the construction of 1,139 Urban Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs), 11 integrated public health laboratories, and nine critical care hospital blocks, aimed at bolstering the city's public health systems and emergency preparedness.

In a parallel development, the government also launched the distribution of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) health cards. The first 20 beneficiaries — including ASHA workers — received their cards from Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The scheme covers 1,961 treatment packages across 27 specialties, accessible at more than 30,000 empanelled hospitals across India.
