Delhi's Najafgarh Drain Corridor: ₹454-Crore Project to Ease Traffic

The Delhi government is advancing a ₹454-crore infrastructure project to build an integrated 61-kilometre road corridor along the Najafgarh drain. Initially announced in February, the initiative aims to alleviate severe traffic bottlenecks caused by slow-moving vehicles and cross-traffic. The Public Works Department (PWD) is currently engaging a private consultant to carry out feasibility studies and draft a detailed project report. Spanning a combined 54.83 km across both banks (from Chhawla to Basaidarapur) alongside an additional 5.94-km stretch, the multi-use corridor will offer alternative routing, enhance regional connectivity, and streamline transit across west and southwest Delhi.
