End of an Era: Shastri & Krishi Bhavan Make Way for Central Vista

As part of the ongoing Central Vista Redevelopment project, the 1950s-era government complexes of Shastri Bhavan and Krishi Bhavan on Dr Rajendra Prasad Marg are slated for demolition.

The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) has directed all occupying central ministries and departments to completely vacate the premises by the end of this month. Although the relocation experienced brief administrative delays, the transition is now in its final stages.

Construction tenders for the replacement blocks—Kartavya Bhawan 4 and 5—have already been awarded. The site will be officially handed over to the CPWD in October to fast-track construction.
