Fadnavis Unlocks Mega Projects: ₹54,354 Cr for Land Acquisition

On June 19, 2025, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed the state finance department to release ₹54,354 crore for land acquisition linked to 11 critical infrastructure projects across the state. Chairing a high-level review meeting at his official residence, Fadnavis emphasized that delays in land acquisition lead to significant cost escalations and must be avoided.

Among the projects discussed were the Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth Highway, Virar-Alibaug Multimodal Corridor, Jalna-Nanded Expressway, and the Pune Ring Road (East, West, and Extension). For the Shaktipeeth Highway alone, the CM ordered an immediate allocation of ₹12,000 crore, instructing officials to ensure minimal impact on forest land.

Fadnavis also addressed environmental challenges along the Morbe-Karanja section of the Virar-Alibaug corridor, which passes through forest and mangrove areas, urging swift action to secure necessary environmental clearances. He further directed that land acquisition in Selu, Parbhani for the Jalna-Nanded Expressway be completed within 15 days.

Additional directives included submitting a proposal to bring the Vadhan-Igatpuri Expressway under the Sagarmala scheme and expediting the finalisation of expressway plans in Vidarbha—specifically for the Bhandara-Gadchiroli, Nagpur-Chandrapur, and Nagpur-Gondiya corridors.
