Fortis Healthcare Adds 600 Beds This Year

Fortis Healthcare aims to augment its existing operational capacity of 4,500 beds by adding 600 beds by the end of the current financial year. Additionally, the healthcare services provider plans to further expand by incorporating 2,200 beds across its existing hospitals within the next three years. Notably, the company had successfully added 150 beds in the preceding year.

To facilitate this growth, Fortis Healthcare is set to invest a cumulative amount of approximately Rs 600 crore this year. Of this total, Rs 400 crore will be allocated for growth capital expenditure, primarily directed towards the construction of buildings and infrastructure. The remaining Rs 200 crore will be dedicated to replacement and maintenance activities, covering equipment replacement and upgrades.

This expansion initiative is poised to significantly enhance Fortis Healthcare's overall capacity. In pursuit of further growth, the company is exploring opportunities in greenfield setups, particularly in regions like the Greater Bombay area, and the northern parts of Bengaluru and Kolkata.

In the upcoming six months, Fortis Healthcare is gearing up to establish its first mental health therapy center in Gurugram, Haryana. In acknowledgment of the prevailing shortage of nursing talent, the company is actively researching the establishment of nursing institutions, with concrete plans to commence the initiative in the next financial year. These strategic moves underscore Fortis Healthcare's commitment to meeting the growing healthcare demands and improving accessibility to quality medical services.
