Garuda Aerospace Opens Landmark Agri-Drone Hub in Chennai

Union Minister of State for Rural Development, Kamlesh Paswan, inaugurated Garuda Aerospace’s state-of-the-art Agri-Drone Indigenisation Facility in Chennai on 14 July 2025.

Spanning 35,000 sq ft, the facility is the first of its kind in India dedicated to the design, manufacturing, and testing of advanced Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). A live demonstration by Drone Didis highlighted Garuda’s commitment to technological innovation and rural empowerment at the grassroots level.

During the event, the Minister also launched 300 Centres of Excellence (CoEs) and flagged off the DGCA-approved Train the Trainer (TTT) programme, aimed at creating a nationwide network of certified drone instructors. He praised the Bharat Drone Association for uniting local component manufacturers and emphasized the impressive scale of operations, with 2,000 agri-drones showcased at the venue.
