German sanitary fittings major Hansgrohe is set to quadruple its production capacity in India, increasing output from 50,000 to 200,000 units annually by 2028, a senior executive confirmed in an interview with Reuters.
The expansion comes in response to India’s surging demand for premium bathroom solutions, with the country expected to account for 10% of Hansgrohe’s global sales by 2030, up from the current 5%.
"There is huge urbanisation—more people moving to cities, higher disposable incomes, and growing demand for better bathrooms. That’s clearly a driver for us," said Thomas Stopper, Vice President – Sales, Asia, Hansgrohe.
To support this growth, the company is exploring local sourcing of components and plans to expand its distributor network from 300 to 400 outlets by 2026.
Hansgrohe’s India strategy is further buoyed by the country’s luxury housing boom. In H1 2025, sales of homes priced at ₹4 crore and above rose 85% year-on-year, crossing 7,000 units, fueling demand for high-end sanitary fittings.
The company’s investment in India aligns with broader industry trends, where urbanization, real estate growth, and consumer preference for premium interiors are driving transformation in the home and lifestyle segment.
