Rajamahendravaram’s iconic Havelock Bridge is getting a ₹47 crore makeover under the Akhanda Godavari Project.
Sanctioned by the Andhra Pradesh government ahead of the Godavari Pushkarams 2027, the project will restore the 1897-built, 2.7-km steel structure—once one of Asia’s longest railway bridges—into a major heritage-tourism hub.
The revamp seamlessly merges history with state-of-the-art entertainment, bringing an AI-powered Time Travel Tunnel, Hologram Zoo, Aquarium Tunnel, laser shows, performance venues, food courts, and a ropeway to the region. Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh highlighted that the initiative rescues a decaying historical icon to place Rajamahendravaram firmly on India’s global tourism map.
