India's Drone Power Takes Flight: Army & ZUPPA Launch MRO Hub

The Indian Army’s Dakshin Bharat Area, in partnership with ZUPPA Geo Navigation Technologies, has inaugurated a state-of-the-art Drone Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) Lab at the Madras Regimental Centre (MRC). This initiative is aimed at building indigenous capabilities in drone maintenance and providing hands-on technical training to meet the growing operational demands of unmanned aerial systems.

The lab’s establishment follows strategic discussions between Lt. Gen. Karanbir Brar, GOC, Dakshin Bharat Area, and ZUPPA, culminating in a comprehensive proposal that includes DGCA-certified drone pilot training and licensing, to be delivered in collaboration with TNUAV Corporation. A formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed to facilitate the rollout.

A standout feature of the lab is its Learning Management System (LMS), which provides modular, remote-access training on drone technologies—from basic component knowledge to advanced EMF diagnostics. This hybrid learning platform is designed to build scalable drone expertise across the armed forces.

ZUPPA plans to extend this MRO lab model to other Army training centres nationwide and has previously implemented similar innovation labs in AICTE-approved institutions.
