India's First Tempered Glass Plant Opens in Noida

In a major boost to the 'Make in India' initiative, Optiemus Infracom has inaugurated the country’s first tempered glass manufacturing facility in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The plant is powered by Engineered by Corning technology from Corning Inc., a global leader in materials science.

The state-of-the-art facility was officially opened by Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Electronics & IT, Information & Broadcasting, and Railways, marking a significant milestone in India's electronics manufacturing journey.

Phase 1 of the project involves an initial investment of ₹70 crore and has an annual production capacity of 25 million units, creating over 600 direct jobs. Phase 2 will scale production to 200 million units per year with an additional ₹800 crore investment, expected to generate more than 4,500 employment opportunities.

With India’s electronics production reaching ₹11.70 lakh crore in FY24–25, the nation has emerged as the world’s second-largest mobile phone manufacturer. At the event, Minister Vaishnaw remarked, “This facility is a testament to India’s growing capabilities in advanced manufacturing and innovation.”
