The Government of Karnataka has approved 6.17 acres of land in Hessarghatta for the establishment of Quantum City (Q-City), a dedicated hub for quantum science and technology. The announcement was made by Minister for Science and Technology, NS Boseraju, on September 7, 2025.
Q-City is envisioned as a center for cutting-edge research, startup incubation, and industry–academia collaboration. It will house advanced laboratories, production clusters for quantum hardware and processors, and quantum high-performance computing (HPC) data centers.
“This milestone marks the beginning of our bold vision to build a $20 billion Quantum Economy by 2035, generating over two lakh direct jobs,” said Minister Boseraju.
In addition, the government has allocated eight acres for the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS–TIFR) to expand its work in fundamental research, further reinforcing Bengaluru’s status as a global science and innovation hub.
Karnataka aims to capture 20% of the global quantum technology market, positioning itself as a magnet for international talent and investment.
