Kerala Water Revolution Combined Supply Scheme Reimagines Water Management

The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) is building a Rs. 32.17-crore Combined Water Supply Scheme in Peringamala, Trivandrum. By providing clean drinking water to the local population, this program hopes to alleviate water shortages.

This extensive project includes building a 10 MLD intake well, transmission and distribution pipelines to connect the new water source to the existing network, and storage tanks and pump houses to ensure a reliable water supply. This project also requires recipient homes to have house service connections.

This initiative is expected to improve Peringamala residents' access to safe and clean drinking water, reduce their reliance on water tankers and private sources, improve public health and sanitation, and boost economic development from increased water availability for businesses and industries.

While the project completion schedule is unknown, bids for intake well building and infrastructure suggest preliminary execution. This project is part of the KWA's aim to improve water delivery infrastructure statewide, expecting considerable benefits for over 50,000 inhabitants and aggressively seeking finance for it and other Kerala water supply programs.

As on December 2023, The project is currently in the stage of being approved currently awaiting approval from the government.
