In a major push to strengthen drinking water access, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced a ₹2,014 crore investment dedicated to expanding drinking water facilities and upgrading existing supply networks across Aurangabad, Sasaram, and Dehri.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has approved ₹1,774 crore in financial assistance under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF). The proposed projects will source surface water from the Sone River to modernize distribution systems, directly aligning with the state's Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali campaign for sustainable water resource management.
The initiative will immediately benefit an estimated population of 8 lakh residents, with infrastructure scaled to support nearly 12 lakh people by 2051.
